PRESERVE  —  Preserve our beaches, parks, neighborhoods, and downtown charm.

Environmental Stewardship.  As a lifelong waterman and hiker, I am committed to preserving our beaches, protecting wildlife, expanding parks and recreational opportunities, and safeguarding the health of the San Elijo Lagoon and our ocean. From protecting open space to supporting dark skies, I will work to reduce our environmental footprint.

Local Businesses & Neighborhood Charm.  I will keep our unique commercial districts vibrant by supporting small businesses and preserving the neighborhood scale that makes Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia, Olivenhain, and New and Old Encinitas special.

PROTECT  —  Defend local control and protect Encinitas from overdevelopment.

Protecting the unique character of our neighborhoods is not anti-development — it’s smart governance. Encinitas incorporated in 1986 and passed Proposition A in 2013 to preserve local control. State legislation has since stripped away many of those tools, enabling “stack and pack” development without adequate consideration of existing neighborhoods or the offsite improvements needed to serve new residents.

I don’t want to stop growth — I just don’t want us to become another overdeveloped, high-density coastal community. I believe in reasonable administrative and legal action to ensure developers contribute their fair share of parks, fire stations, roads, and utilities.

SAFETY  —  Keep our communities safe from crime and our rural areas safe from wildfires.

With over 29 years in fire service, I have been a first responder to vehicle collisions, wildfires, drownings, and countless other emergencies. That experience gives me a firsthand understanding of what it takes to keep our neighborhoods, streets, and families safe.

Crime.  Encinitas is a low-crime community, but auto burglary, retail theft, and drug activity are real concerns. I will continue to support our law enforcement partners so they can keep our homes, businesses, and streets safe.

Wildfire.  Approximately one-third of our city lies in a Moderate, High, or Very High wildland fire hazard zone — a risk that threatens not only insurance rates but the survival of our homes. Enforcing fire codes on new construction, ensuring adequate evacuation routes, and hardening existing homes must be priorities. Expanding the proven model of the Olivenhain Fire Safe Council citywide is essential to preventing a Palisades, Paradise, or Altadena-type disaster here.

Safe Streets & Trails.  Through education, engineering, and enforcement, I will work to make our streets and trails safer for all users — addressing traffic, crosswalk visibility, bike lanes, and responsible e-bike use.

INVEST  —  Invest in infrastructure, public safety, and the services residents depend on.

Infrastructure.  Thirteen years on the Olivenhain Municipal Water District Board of Directors gave me a manager’s understanding of water, sewer, and recycled water systems. I will bring that same disciplined approach to fixing roads, upgrading aging storm drains, and protecting our coast.

Fiscal Accountability.  Your tax dollars deserve the same rigorous oversight I applied managing multi-million-dollar public agency budgets. I will bring that discipline to City Hall.
