For me, Encinitas has never just been where I live – It’s home. I grew up in Cardiff, attended Oakcrest, SDA and went to SDSU (earning a Masters Degree in Public Administration). I’m a proven public servant with more than 30 years of experience managing essential services that keep our communities safe, reliable, and thriving.
Experience that I will bring to this council seat:
- 30 years of experience as firefighter and Chief Fire Officer overseeing a $17 million budget and reporting to City Council
- 13 years of experience and successful re-election as President / Director / Treasurer to Olivenhain Municipal Water District, overseeing a $80 million budget
- 7 years of experience as a full-time professor at Palomar College
- A father of 3, with children that live and grandchildren schooled in Encinitas
I’ve built my career on leadership, accountability, and getting results. I’m running to bring experienced leadership and common-sense decision-making to City Hall. My experiences have taught me how to listen, make informed decisions, and always put people first.
My Priorities are Simple

Defend local control and protect Encinitas from overdevelopment.

Keep our neighborhoods safe by reducing crime and strengthening wildfire preparedness.

District 3 Map
The Encinitas City Council voted to approve this redistricting map on March 9, 2022. In a unanimous vote, the council adopted the map known as 69847e, which made minimal changes to the city’s previous voting districts to balance 2020 census data.
