Surf, sun, and community have shaped my life. I moved to Cardiff-by-the-Sea in 1977, grew up near Cardiff Elementary, attended Oak Crest Middle School and San Dieguito High, and have spent a lifetime surfing, skating, and enjoying the neighborhoods I proudly call home.
My wife Monica and I have been together 41 years and raised our three children in Encinitas schools. Today, all three live locally with their families, and our four grandchildren are following in our footsteps, headed for Cardiff Elementary and Encinitas schools.
For 40 years, I have dedicated my life to public service — as a firefighter and chief fire officer, an elected director on Olivenhain Water District, a professor at Palomar College, a Boy Scout leader, and a mentor through Boys2Men.

I care deeply about protecting the quality of life, coastline, and character that make Encinitas special, while ensuring future generations can continue to call it home.
